Living the Dream

My class is finally started to get the hang of the for example.  I was able to use it today! I asked my class for examples of types of force.  They did a great job of giving me several different examples.  I actually had a request for blackboard usage today.....was very pumped up.  Mr. Fallis' can we get out our blackboard.....I gave my student a big whoop there it is!  Vocabulary power pixs might be taking over the k-3rd grades at my school.  .....WBT is where it is at!!!!  Check them out at ebook downloads at www.wholebrainteaching.com......

The bull's eye game

I have almost made it through all of the levels of the scoreboard this year.  When you have a group of challenging students, you have to go with the flow.  I introduced the bull's eye game to my students today and they are definably on board with it.  Check it out at  (http://www.wholebrainteaching.com/Whole-Brain-Teching/Levels/Level-5-The-Bull-s-Eye-Game.html)  I have a few particular students who need to fell more ownership over their actions.  I do still have the regular scoreboard up to continue to applaud my class for their efforts.

In other news, my students are starting to really grasp the concept of the brain toys.  They are using them constantly with little reminders or guidance from me.  The brain toys have brought my class to a completely different level.  Make it happen in your classroom.  http://www.livestream.com/wholebrainteaching1

Another great day of WBT

Today, I had the opportunity to teach all 77 of our third graders at once.  Tomorrow, we are going on a field trip to the zoo.  I decided to use this opportunity to showcase WBT to my fellow third grade teachers....once again it proved itself.  It was amazing how much class-yes worked with such a large group.  http://www.wholebrainteaching.com/Whole-Brain-Teching/First-Steps/Attention-Getter-Class-Yes.html  I love the fact that I can walk into any classroom at anytime and immediately have the attention of everyone in the room.  Next, I did hands and eyes as I was introducing animals to the students.  http://www.wholebrainteaching.com/Whole-Brain-Teching/First-Steps/Focuser-Hands-and-Eyes.html  More success!  I kept rolling with the punches and tried out gestures and booooooommmmmm all 75 students were engaged.  I loved every second of it.  I even had the opportunity of showing them the blackboard brain toys.  Made it another great day to be a whole brain teacher!

Making it Happen!

Everyone wants to know if whole brain teaching helps your test scores.  In my case, it has help set a level of expectation.  I just got back my normative data and my students grew 130% in math, 120% in reading and 150% in language usage.  This is not even counting the amazing individuals gains.  I had one student in my class improve 225% in reading.  If that doesn't make you want to try whole brain teaching...I don't know what will.......check it out at www.wholebrainteaching.com.....

make it a great day

Brain toys...blackboards, hand puppets and props

Yesterday, I introduce these new brain toys to my class and they were an instant hit!  I have already had so many request to continue their uses.  I personally feel that my students are excited to use these brain toys than the rest.  I do have to admit that I changed them from blackboards to whiteboards.  The kids really love getting them out.  I have began to use them to "take notes"  The students take their notes on their blackboard and then they explain their notes why they teach.  The hand puppets were the fan favorite.  They were so excited to get our new class set. lol....I have them giving hand puppet oh yeahs for the score board.  The props did very well too.  I actually had one person do a really swell job of using their pencils to explain the layers of soil.

As far as the other brain toys are concerned......my students are still struggling with the for example, but the adder is coming right along.  I am super pumped to continue the use of brain toys in my classroom.  For more information about the brain toys visit....http://www.livestream.com/wholebrainteaching1....if you don't give them a try you will never experience the benefits of whole brain teaching brain toys.....please check out the website it will be a blast for you and your students.  http://www.wholebrainteaching.com/
